If you need some background on what LinkedIn Today is, their blog post is HERE.
If you’re like me, then you have been spending more and more time in LInkedIn of late – and why not? It’s a great platform for business networking and integrates nicely with Twitter: the perfect place for personal branding and career development, which are two topics I’ve been mashing together with social media all year.
Also like me, you’ve probably aready figured out who on Twitter you are going to have curate to you information about various things. If you haven’t, stay tuned for “Using Twitter to Cut Through the Clutter.” Back to me and how you are like me – you probably loath getting superfluous emails and are sllghtly bitter about the fact that a full 10% of your productivity goes toward unsubscribing from emails that you don’t really want or need.
Enter LinkedIn Today.
I love using email for productivity – in fact it is part of the reason I chose Posterous as a platoform (BTW Posterous also started delivering auto opt-in newsletters about a month ago – like I said, 10% of productivity=unsubscribe time.)
That being said, I think it’s in bad form for folks to “auto opt-in” any new autogenerated email. Just send them ONE email telling them how that CAN opt-in if them like, for Pete’s sake. I know, I know – what’s the ROI on letting people choose, your metrics look so much better when you don’t, yadayadayada.
